Cave de Tain - l'Hermitage is a leading French cooperative winery located at the foot of the famed Hermitage slope in the northern Rhône. It is particularly known for its wines made from the Syrah grape, which is the only red variety it produces. Cave de Tain is the largest producer of AOC wine in the northern Rhône. The company was formed in 1933 by several dozen individual growers. Today, this has expanded to 300 members, who collectively farm over 1000 hectares (2500 acres) of vineyards.
