Getting the remnants from the other cuvees, the 2012 Remnant (which was formerly called the Alchemist) is 35% Tempranillo, 25% Petit Verdot, 23% Syrah and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon that saw the standard 18 months in a combination of new and used French oak. Full-bodied, rich and voluptuous, with some serious texture and depth, it also has superb balance, notable underlying structure and integrated acidity, all of which keep it a joy to drink. Loaded with notions of blackberry, raspberry, smoke, roasted herbs and licorice, this masculine-styled beauty can be consumed anytime over the coming 7-8 years.
Named after two orphan brothers who were raised in Paso Robles, Claud and Dick Booker, Booker Vineyards aims to replicate the prominence that these brothers made on the region with their own wines. The Booker brothers helped to develop the region, working as farmers and assisting with manual labor, as well as being massive philanthropists for the region. One-hundred acres of the Booker brothers land was purchased by Lisa and Eric Jensen in 2001 in hopes to grow truly amazing fruit. They did in fact grow amazing fruit, and by 2005 they released their own label. The wines are mostly Rhone varieties, and are bold, ripe, and cleverly named, following the trend of most of Paso Robles.
