This shows more freshness than the 2010, with blackberry, toasted-oak and chocolate character. Full body, chewy and polished texture. Needs a few years to come together but well structured. Better in 2016.
Alpha Omega’s flagship 2011 ERA (a selection of their finest barrels) is full and rich with slightly more tannin and structure than its siblings. This impressively endowed wine is similar to several of the single vineyard offerings. Like the Stagecoach Vineyard effort, it is made in a more backward, brooding style, especially for a 2011. Give it several years of bottle age and drink it over the following 12-15 years.
Established in 2006 in the Napa Valley’s Rutherford AVA, Alpha Omega produces a range of wines that blend the Old World winemaking with the New World techniques. Alpha Omega is very universal utilizing grapes from renowned Napa Valley vineyards like Beckstoffer's To Kalon and Missouri Hopper in Oakville, Dr. Crane and Las Piedras in St. Helena, Georges III in Rutherford, Stagecoach in Atlas Peak, and Sunshine Valley in Oak Knoll District. No matter if it’s reds or whites, Alpha Omega takes advantage of the complexity and depth the Napa Valley has to offer.
