The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is the least expressive of these 2013s, likely the result of its recent bottling. Lavender, black cherries, cloves, menthol, orange peel and dark spices grace the explosive, powerful finish. Dark and enticing, but also quite reticent, the 2013 has a lot to say, but not just yet. The deep, inky finish gives the 2013 much of its virile personality. Rating: 93+
Lots of dried-fruit character here that verges on raisins. Chocolate and walnuts, too. Full body, velvety and chewy tannins and a savory finish. Shows tension for such a ripe wine.
Since the winery’s first commercial release in 1987, Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards have been producing world class wines. With a primary focus on high-end Cabernet Sauvignon, the 40-acre estate produces their wines in smaller quantities, making them difficult to obtain. Owner Todd Anderson centers most of his attention on perfecting their flagship wine, a Bordeaux-style blend that pays homage to the attractive wines of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion of the Right Bank, while also giving devoted time to special releases that have often been made from less-common varietals such as Petite Syrah. Anderson’s Conn Valley wines are quintessential examples of thoughtful winemaking techniques used to create complex and opulent characteristics in every bottle.
