Anne Gros, the daughter of Francois Gros, took over her family’s winery at the end of the nineteen eighties. The Gros family dates back as a winemaking family within the Cote de Nuits, more specifically Vosne-Romanee since the early eighteen hundreds. Anne Gros has quickly become one of the most sought-after wineries within Burgundy, developing as a bit of a cult winery in praise of her expertise as a winemaker. Her vineyard sites are found scattered in the beautiful limestone driven soils of the Cote de Nuits, the largest within Vosne-Romanee, following Flagey-Echezeaux, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, and Concoeur. The wine still is terroir driven with 80% new oak in the Grand Cru wines, providing structure alongside the natural finesse of her Red Burgundies.
The Anne Gros Richebourg 2009 is a distinguished Pinot Noir from Burgundy's famed Vosne-Romanée, showcasing the estate's commitment to quality since its establishment in 1988. This wine comes from a tiny parcel of old vines in the prestigious Richebourg grand cru, known for its limited production. The 2009 vintage is particularly celebrated, offering an intricate bouquet of vibrant red fruits, floral notes, and a touch of spice. Its texture is smooth and energetic, complemented by herbal undertones and a lingering finish that reveals firm tannins. This wine promises a graceful evolution with age, reflecting both elegance and the nuanced character typical of traditional Old World wines.
