Behind the formation of Silverado Vineyards in the Millar family who purchased the Stags Leap District land in Napa Valley in 1970. The physical winery was not established until 1981, and today has more than 400 acres of vineyards planted to mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay with smaller amounts of Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Sangiovese. The Millar family began their time in the wine industry simply as fruit suppliers to other wineries in the region, and with time began bottling their own grapes under the Silverado label. The sustainable winery began purchasing more land including the Firetree, Mt. George, and Soda Creek Canyon vineyards to their estate throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. Today with the addition of new farming ideas, different trellising and pruning techniques as well a modernized team, Silverado Vineyards has catapulted with promise and is always consistent in quality.
