Nothing ages quite like Barolo; the “lean and mean” Nebbiolo grape may appear light but has undeniable tannic and acidic power lending it to age elegantly. The hilltops of Piedmont offer a perfect contrast for Nebbiolo vines; Bounded by the Alps and the Mediterranean with limestone and sandstone soils beneath them. The by-product of this contrast (with help from a skilled vigneron) is structured wines with notes of cherries, tar, roses, leather, and wild mountain herbs. While we love Barolo at any stage, we think the best expression appears once the wine is softened with age.
So today we put together our available back-vintage Barolo from top producers. Take a look at the below rarities to adorn your dinner table.
