First planted in the 1880s and reborn in the 1970s, this Calistoga site has quietly produced some of the most profound Cabernet Sauvignon ever bottled. Its gravelly, cobbled soils—once riverbed—give a striking elegance and minerality to the wines, setting them apart from more opulent Napa styles. But the Eisele name didn’t become legend overnight.

For two decades, the vineyard flourished under the stewardship of Bart and Daphne Araujo, whose relentless pursuit of purity and precision transformed it into a benchmark of site-driven winemaking. Their Cabernets from the 1990s and early 2000s remain some of the most sought-after bottles in Napa history. Today, under the ownership of Château Latour’s parent company (yes, that Latour), the vineyard continues its legacy with uncompromising biodynamic farming and a Burgundian approach to expression and terroir.
