Some collectors like to skip certain vintages that may not represent the best conditions of a given wine-producing region. Others will prefer to accumulate complete sets of vintages, regardless of the reported vintage quality. Either technique delivers a broad picture of the characteristics of the specific producer, winery, vineyard site, grape variety, or cuvee under consideration over time. One of the joys of collecting wine is found in the growing understanding of how each of those variables reacts with differences in vintage conditions and with greater age.
