Delmas is a boutique producer growing Rhone varietals in The Rocks District of Milton Freewater AVA - a unique site on the Oregon side of the Walla Walla Valley called "the most distinctive AVA in America" by Wine Spectator. The unique cobblestone-rich soils in this area produce wines of great minerality, complexity, and structure, and the 2021 Delmas "SJR" Vineyard Syrah is no exception.  Made of 100% estate-grown fruit coming from a tiny 10-acre vineyard, this impressive wine features intense notes of blackberry and huckleberry fruit supporting layers of allspice, licorice, black truffle, forest floor, smoked meats, and stony minerality. This is a nuanced wine of serious quality that should be on the radar (and in the cellar) of any Syrah lover.
