The right bank of the Dordogne River in Bordeaux has a rich, storied history and is home to the esteemed appellations, St. Emilion and Pomerol. As leaders in excellence, these Merlot-dominant reds remain some of the world's most collected and admired wines. The beautiful appellation of St.Emilion lies is the biggest name on the right bank of Bordeaux. This appellation is the key wine town within the Libournais district. The great wines of this appellation will be bold, layered, and lush, exhibiting distinguishable mineral notes. They uphold the right bank’s values of being genuine, affable, and of great quality, as do the wines of neighboring Pomerol.
The brilliant terroir of Pomerol is inimitable, with its special soil graced by 40-million-year-old blue clay that doesn’t exist in any other wine-producing region on earth. Pomerol’s most famous producer, Petrus, resides on the only hill made entirely of this rare clay. Velvety, polished, and opulent, Pomerol’s top wines are prized for their supple richness and unique character.
