Ridge Vineyards is produces wine in two locations in California, Monte Bello Ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains A.V.A. and Lytton Springs in the Dry Creek Valley A.V.A. of Sonoma County. Ridge's most famous, iconic bottling is the Monte Bello, a graceful and age-worthy Cabernet-based blend, but the producer is a Zinfandel house. These wines transcend winemaking to show the unmistakable voice of California's most elusive vineyards. The estate's vineyards, leased and owned, are farmed sustainably; almost 200 acres are certified as organically farmed. 

The winery’s 1971 California Cabernet Sauvignon came in 5th at the famed Judgment of Paris Tasting, beating Château Leoville Las Cases and all but one other California Cabernet. In a re-tasting of all the same wines in 2006, the Ridge wine took first place.
