Pierre Ramonet's legacy endures through his grandsons, who oversee Domaine Ramonet's operations and uphold his deep-seated belief in the importance of old vines, as recently highlighted in this Wine Spectator Article. They have carried forth his vision, nurturing the vineyards with the utmost care. All wines from vineyards 12 years or younger are declassified by one tier; that's how important old vine quality is to their wines. Dead or missing vines are replanted until the vineyard reaches 30 years of age and then are left alone until the whole parcel needs replanting and the process starts over. These are lofty standards, even for Burgundy, but the grandson team of Noel and Jean-Claude are committed. The old vine influence gives these wines a certain power and concentration that builds the flavor profile's backbone with very little new oak influence. If there ever was a time to fall in love with Ramonet, it's now. Join us in marveling at the world's most classic expression of chardonnay.
