Scarecrow honors the remarkable life of J.J. Cohn., who acquired the prized Rutherford vines in hopes of one day building his winery in 1945. In a region where vineyards are often young, Scarecrow’s vines are living legends, some nearing 70 years of age. These vines, rooted in St. George rootstock, were first planted by the visionary winemaker John Daniel Jr. The exceptional quality of their fruit quickly became the secret ingredient in some of Napa’s most iconic wines.
