The hot summer for rare wine values has extended into the early fall.  Values as reported by our sister publication, The Wine Market Journal, are up several percent since the beginning of July and a convincing 6-12% since this time last year.   It is especially heartening that The Wine Market Journal’s broad index of high value wines over $1000 rose over 7% in the past year, over 3% of which happened since July 1. This demonstrates that people are back to buying investment-level wines, along with great drinking wines. 

Traditionally, once rare wine values change market direction, they remain in that new direction for multiple years. This may indicate the beginning of a years-long bull run in rare wine values, and, therefore, an ideal time to buy.
