This seemingly adorable grape is notoriously difficult to grow, and even more difficult to coax to its fullest expression. The French reign supreme in their experience with a labyrinth of appellations to accompany and navigate to further understand this capricious varietal. And while France certainly has the reputation, the rest of the world has followed suit, creating their own beautiful versions of this wine. Pinot Noir has been grown, harvested, and made into wine for centuries and to this day captures the palate with its rush of red fruits, earthy tones, and layered complexity.
