As proprietor of Larkmead Vineyards, Kate Solari Baker has helped shape one of Napa Valley’s most historic estates into a benchmark of modern excellence. With her late husband, Cam Baker, she led a visionary replanting of the estate, matching grape varieties and clones to the vineyard’s diverse soils—ancient riverbed gravel, clay, and loam—rare for the valley floor.

Founded in 1895 and owned by the Solari family since 1948, Larkmead has long played a quiet but powerful role in Napa’s rise to global renown. Today, under Kate’s continued guidance, Larkmead remains a deeply expressive site, organically farmed and meticulously vinified to reflect its singular terroir.
