Akitu

Akitu is a family-owned wine estate founded by Andrew Donaldson in Central Otago, New Zealand. Established in 2001, its 12-hectare vineyard occupies a north-facing slope near Wānaka at approximately 380 meters above sea level. The elevated site, ancient glacial soils, and cool alpine climate provide an exceptional setting for Pinot Noir.

The vineyard is planted entirely to Pinot Noir, with several clones and rootstocks matched to its varied soils. Akitu’s A1 Pinot Noir represents the estate’s most structured and age-worthy expression, while A2 emphasizes bright fruit, freshness, and immediate appeal. The collection also includes a distinctive Pinot Noir Blanc, made as a still white wine from red grapes.
