Bonny Doon Vineyard

Bonny Doon Vineyard was founded by Randall Grahm in 1983 on California’s Central Coast. Initially inspired by Burgundy, Grahm soon turned his attention to Rhône varieties and became one of the earliest and most influential champions of grapes such as Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre in California, earning recognition as the original “Rhône Ranger.”

The winery’s defining wine is Le Cigare Volant, a Rhône-inspired red blend first released in 1986 as an homage to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Bonny Doon became equally known for its imaginative labels, unconventional names and willingness to challenge California winemaking traditions. Its portfolio continues to explore Mediterranean varieties through distinctive red, white and rosé wines.
