Alvear

Bodegas Alvear was founded in Montilla, Córdoba, in 1729 by Diego de Alvear y Escalera. Now managed by the eighth generation, it is the oldest winery in Andalusia and one of Spain’s most historic family-owned wine estates.

Alvear is renowned for demonstrating the extraordinary versatility of Pedro Ximénez in the Montilla-Moriles region. Grown primarily in chalky albariza soils, the variety is used to produce everything from dry, flor-aged wines to concentrated sweet wines made from sun-dried grapes. Its celebrated portfolio includes Fino C.B., Pedro Ximénez 1927 and rare wines drawn from centuries-old soleras.
