Piero Antinori

Marchese Piero Antinori is one of the central figures in the modern evolution of Italian wine. Representing the 25th generation of a winemaking family whose history dates to 1385, he expanded Marchesi Antinori while encouraging experimentation that challenged established conventions without abandoning Tuscany’s regional identity.

His most influential achievement was the development of Tignanello, a groundbreaking Sangiovese-based wine that introduced barrique aging and Cabernet varieties to a modern Tuscan blend. Together with Solaia and the family’s growing collection of estates, it helped redefine the international reputation of Italian wine. Piero now serves as honorary president of Marchesi Antinori, while his daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia lead the family business.
