The Setting Wines was established in 2014 by friends Jeff Cova, Noah McMahon, and winemaker Jesse Katz. The project was founded on a shared belief that memorable wines begin with a remarkable sense of place and are best enjoyed in equally meaningful settings.

Katz brings experience from celebrated estates around the world, including Château Pétrus and Screaming Eagle, and was the first winemaker named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. His approach pairs distinctive vineyard sites with precise farming and winemaking techniques designed to express the individual character of each location.

Produced in limited quantities, The Setting portfolio includes vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon and other varieties sourced from exceptional sites across Napa Valley, Sonoma, and Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The wines have earned considerable critical acclaim and collector attention, establishing The Setting as one of the most compelling names among California’s new generation of luxury producers.
