Anza

Anza was founded by winemaker Diego Magaña in 2016 after he acquired a collection of old vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. Named in honor of his mother, Esperanza Tejero, the project reflects Magaña’s personal interpretation of Rioja through individual parcels rather than traditional aging classifications.

The estate farms approximately 4.5 hectares around Kripan, Elvillar and Laguardia. Its bush vines range from 30 to 90 years old and are planted primarily to Tempranillo, alongside Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo, Viura and Malvasía Riojana. Parcels are fermented separately with indigenous yeasts and aged in used wooden vessels, producing fresh, floral wines that emphasize Rioja Alavesa’s limestone soils and high-elevation character.
