Antoine Sanzay

Antoine Sanzay took over his family’s estate in Varrains in 2002, gradually moving away from selling grapes to the local cooperative to bottle the entire production under his own name. Today, the organically certified domaine farms approximately 12 hectares in the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations.

Cabernet Franc forms the heart of the estate, joined by a smaller amount of Chenin Blanc. Sanzay works with several distinguished parcels, including Les Poyeux, one of Saumur-Champigny’s most respected Cabernet Franc sites. Indigenous yeast fermentation and aging in concrete, large wooden vessels or older barrels preserve the freshness, mineral character and individual identity of each vineyard.
