Appassionata

Appassionata began in 2005 as a collaboration between renowned German winemaker Ernst “Erni” Loosen and J. Christopher Wines. Named after Beethoven’s expressive “Appassionata” piano sonata, the project grew into a 40-acre estate in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountains, where Loosen planted vineyards and built a winery dedicated to long-lived Willamette Valley wines.

Patience is central to the Appassionata philosophy. Its three Pinot Noirs, Allegro, Andante and Fortissimo, are released at progressively later stages of development, with Fortissimo cellared for 10 years before release. The estate also produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and a dry Riesling inspired by the traditional Grosses Gewächs wines of Germany.
