Chateau Montelena, located in Northern Napa Valley, has been a part of the region since the 1880s. Originally established by the Tubbs family in 1882, they planted the vineyard and constructed the winery shortly after. By 1896, Chateau Montelena became the seventh-largest winery in Napa Valley but ceased wine production during Prohibition. In the 1970s, the Barrett family purchased the property, revitalized it with new vineyards, and gained fame for winning the Paris Tasting in 1976.
