The market is seeing a hot summer for rare wine values.  While traditionally the slowest time of the year, prices for most categories of rare wine have moved up convincingly since the beginning of July at Internet auction. Port was the top appreciation category, followed by Bordeaux, Cal Cults, Rhone's, and Champagne. All three of The Wine Market Journal’s (www.winemarketjournal.com) broad indices, including that for high-value wines, rose during this period, indicating that the market is rising overall and that big-ticket investment-level bottles are back in vogue.
