Encouraged by a friend to join the mailing lists of Sine Qua Non, Marcassin, Harlan, Colgin, and other leading producers, he began acquiring wines directly from the wineries. His cellar grew around the regions he most enjoyed, with particular strength in California’s Central Coast and Northern California, complemented by Bordeaux purchased en primeur from the celebrated 2000 vintage.
